March 23     Maine Commission for Community Service

Maine Commission for Community Service.  We are the states funder for AmeriCorps programs and work to foster community service in Maine.  You may have heard about the landmark legislation recently passed by president Obama called the Kennedy Serve America Act.  Now that more details about how the act will be implemented have come to light we would like to showcase what this means for Maine.  Of particular interest to you members might be the new provisions to address the cost of higher education.

I would like to arrange for our Executive Director, Maryalice Crofton, to speak to your members on the status of the volunteer sector and the opportunities the Kennedy Serve America Act offers Maine.
