Fryeburg Area Rotary Club Citizen of January 2024

Today the Rotary Club Honors our Citizen of the Month, Lauren Doughty.        She was nominated by her teacher and introduced ........"Today I have the amazing opportunity to be with you all this morning to talk to you about a special young lady that I met during my first year teaching at the Molly Ockett School.     When I met Lauren on the first day of fifth grade, I was introduced to a shy but polite student who wasn’t yet sure how to take her new crazy and enthusiastic teacher.    Over the year and half that I have had the pleasure of teaching and getting to know Lauren, I have watched her come out of her shell and work extremely hard to be successful in every aspect of her school career. No matter the subject or assignment, Lauren works hard to complete anything that is thrown her way, even when it forces her to be pushed outside her comfort zone. When school becomes tough, she continues to persevere and advocate for herself to ensure she is doing everything she can to be successful.    To say that Lauren is kind, would be an understatement. Lauren is an inclusive, caring, and positive individual in our classroom community that never fails to include others or be a shoulder to lean on when her peers are in need. She is the type of person that spreads kindness throughout the school with just a smile and a simple “Good Morning” to everyone she sees.
Towards the end of fifth grade, we read the first book in J.K. Rowling’s award winning series, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone. During that unit, I had sorted students into the four Hogwarts houses, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Gryffindor. It was easy for me to sort Lauren into the Hufflepuff house because puffs are characterized as loyal, dedicated, kind and patient individuals. These are all traits that Lauren possesses which led her to be a valued member of her Hogwarts house.
Lauren, I cannot wait to see you continue to grow and thrive not only in the classroom but in all aspects of life. Thank you for letting me be your teacher and be a part of your journey. With that being said, I am truly honored to present the January Rotary Student of the Month award to Lauren Doughty. Congratulations, Lauren!"          Ms. Suprenard
Congratulations Lauren, keep doing what you are doing as you make a difference.
